In the past few days I’ve received a flurry of email from frantic Lookout users asking how they can get a copy of the product. I thought I’d help them out and go dig out the location for downloading from Microsoft, but after a fairly deep search, it appears it has been removed from the Microsoft site, as well as other distribution sites like CNet.
Since I no longer work for Microsoft, I don’t know why. I’m not surprised, though, as the product is getting a bit stale. If you are one of the many folks using the product, I don’t know what the support plan from Microsoft is. I don’t have a copy of it myself any longer.
If you do know how to get a copy, please post a comment for others!

The following link seems to work for Lookout v 1.30. Is this the latest version of Lookout before it went all MS Desktop Search on us?
Install Bell’s and Whistles for outlook and enable lookout via the options. It works well. MS appears to have disabled the feature.
You have to love the http://www.webarchive.org they have the look out site, including downloads hosted on lookout.com back to the inception of the product. The last version of the site, before M$ hijacked the url back to MDS is http://web.archive.org/web/20060831223528/http://www.lookoutsoft.com/Lookout/download.html
The only thing I don’t love about Lookout is that I cannot tell the difference between Read and Unread E-mail in the search results…..
If you live in Outlook like I do, then Lookout is an absolute must-have application. If you don’t, then Google Desktop Search and Copernic blow Microsoft Desktop Search away.
You can make it work again..

I tried it so often to make Lookout work again, but it was just annoying! I was so desperate, because I like Lookout so much, but it makes to sense when it will not be developed further! So I tried other Tools and work now with Lookeen, because I need a tool which works with no complications with Outlook 07!
